Growing up we were taught to wipe out feet at the door and always wore shoes inside. Doing this and vacuuming/sweeping works almost as good. Believe it or not what you pick up at the gas station, bathroom, ect will be gone and replaced with new dirt in minutes. I like wearing my shoes in the house and think it's rude to ask guest to remove theirs.I will do it if asked, but will avoid going to that persons house. I think this whole shoes off in the house thing is better for you is a bunch of hype

Billy,
You are incorrect. Current scientific research strongly supports that wearing shoes in your home brings harmful toxins and bacteria into your home. You can do whatever you want in your own home, but do your research before you post your layman's opinion.

Scientific research also supports that shielding ourselves from germs may be bad for our immune system. Studies have shown that children who are exposed to germs such as those found in a daycare are less likely to get asthma and cancer than those who are not. Many agree that our germaphobic society who you seem to be with does more harm than good. Are you one of those people that follow your kids around with hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes? Our bodies can build immunity to most germs.

Unless you have a old house with or previously had lead paint I'm not sure what toxins are going to be brought from outside. Like I said what your shoes pick up in public don't stay their long or will be brought in the home at such low amounts.

It takes about a day or two for the bacteria to die. Again, do some research on this subject. In the end do whatever you want in your own home.

"In a recent study, researchers at the University of Arizona found nine different species of bacteria on people's shoes. These types of bacteria can cause infections in our stomachs, eyes and lungs."
"The study also found bacteria live longer on our shoes than in other places. As we walk, we constantly pick up new debris that feeds the growth of more bacteria."
I would post the URL to the actual source and video, but YouTube doesn't allow URLs.

ABC News: How Dirty Are Your Shoes?

The only thing that you stated that is true is that hand sanitizers and Lysol wipes do more harm than good.
All anyone needs while washing their hands is warm water and friction while singing the ABCs.
But that is another movie in the making.
Not wearing shoes in the home is a preventative measure which helps families avoid harmful bacterias. Again, do the research. Many cultures around the world practice this out custom.
