  • Her medical professionals I can assure you are all well aware of how she feeds and have no problem with it for over 3 years. When she was able to still feed herself she did it as fast as she could. If there was any discomfort she would let me know. Everyone is different and feed rates will vary. What's wrong with convienience of the care giver if the patient has no problem with it? Good thing not everyone has your mind set or we would still be in the Stone Age.

  • Three years ago when peg feeding started she fed herself with the syringe at that rate. She set the pace and she feels no discomfort. We have to feed her now as the ALS has developed to the point where she has no use of arms.

  • damn..please dont do this ever again:|

way to fast. Pull out the piston and fill it with the food. and let the food reach the stomach slowly!

    Never inject food..!!

(only if you have a very little residu, put on the piston and inject 10 ml/cc of air to empty it.

If you inject food(fast or slow) it will damage the stomach!!

  • Doctor said it was OK to do this as long as there was no discomfort. Never had a problem with this and been doing it for 3 years. Some people may have a problem with doing it this way but it works great for us.

  • Waaay to fast!!! not good!

  • @ChessElf

How do you know? We have been doing it this way for 3 years with no problems and she feels great. We slowly worked it up to this speed over a few months.

  • My mom suffered a stroke and not able to swallow, and she is on the peg. She is on 1.2, i feel she needs more food she feels very weak, were she can not even talk, what food are you giving her, and can we give baby food? not sure but it breaks my heart to see mom starving slowly.

  • Where's your gloves ?

Universal Precautions are every bit as important as the procedure ...

  • Please slow down the process. The administration should be 500 ml for enteral formula over 5 to 20 min. More than 500 ml should take longer.

  • It can be done even faster than that as long as she's comfortable...........Good job buddy!
