William Williams (the great 18th century hymn writer nicknamed "The Sweet Singer Of Wales") wrote 900 hymns in his lifetime. People in his time said "His hymns have both stirred and soothed a whole nation." At a gathering of Welsh Calvinistic Methodists in the early days of that movement, it was proposed that they needed good hymns in the Welsh language. But who would write them? The ministers decided to each attempt to write a hymn then and there and judge who was gifted for such a task. Needless to say, Williams' gift was discovered and the other ministers insisted that he devote himself to writing hymns for the church. He became good friends with Whitefield, and while many of his hymns remain untranslated into English, a small collection of them was translated by Williams himself for to be used in Whitefield's Georgia orphanage. It is from this collection that "Guide Me" comes to us. Jeremy Casella, a wonderful singer-songwriter and long-time part of the Indelible Grace community makes his lead vocal debut on this hymn that he set to new music. From Indelible Grace's Hymn Sing in Nashville album.
