Linda Medley, artist of the Graphic Novel 'Castle Waiting' at Wondercon 2007 doing a drawing demonstration based on a character description given by the audience. I took it with my still camera so the video and audio is not that good. Plus, I did not get video of her drawing since my arms were getting tired, so that part is a still image slide show segment.
The questions are asked of Who, What, Where, Why, How etc. and the audience comes up with a very old female, welding, evil villain, making robots in Cote Tower in San Francisco. The loud voice that talks too much is me...sorry. This exercises is a great activity for a cartooning class or for an artist appearance. It's amazing how easy it is to come up with a good character idea. Linda drew the picture with a large brush pen filled with ink.
Linda's website is http://www.castlewaiting.com and her books are now published by http://www.fantagraphics.com/
NOTE: at the start of the montage scene there is some strange glitch in the video where the first photo image gets stuck. Maybe it's just me.
It's been hard to find Linda online, & she's so extraordinarily talented...it's a enigma. thx
