This is the latest stage in the development of my latest engine; Two TV94 (T18a special) Garrett Turbo's using a single burner. I've constructed an electric start system using high power brushless motors and specialy designed clutches and bell housings which are tiny by very effective at smoothly engaging the rotors and then disconnecting when the start switch is released. The control panel is stuffed with electronics that control and monitor all the engine sub systems and incorporate many safety features such as throttle valve error, low oil and overspeed shut down. My next upload should be a full start sequence with 'torch' gas and main fuel.

  • Wow how much did everything cost

  • @baconator57 I have no idea, been plugging away at this project for years now... That was last summer. put it to bed for the winter and been working on it again this year, new start clutches, some more wiring for safety features - another few weeks and should be going for some proper power runs :-)

  • Cant wait to see you get these bad boys Fired up!

  • Not long now :-)

  • I've been waiting a while to see this baby spool up>

  • I'll post a proper test firing video maybe next week, new starter clutches and main burner fuel nozzle needed first (12GPH nozzle needs to be upgraded to 40GPH) flow calculations require 48GPH flow at full power, the test nozzle gets her just under idle before the air flow exceeds the fuel flow and she blows out like a candle... :-)

  • you need to goto the moon!

  • Great!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW! nice job

  • totally cool, beats the hell out of my homemade turbine!

  • Well for their size 3 HP is a lot indeed (it was actually clear for they need to transmit the Force of those small RC car engines which have already up to 3.9 hp !!

But 350 HP @ 420 Lbft on a free drive power turbine, well that makes me smile ;o) ! When producing electricity with it, that thing would make a nice generator for remote applications ;o) !!
