Established in 1991, the Los Altos Community Foundation (LACF) manages programs, events, sponsorships, charitable funds, and programs created by citizens who care deeply about strengthening the community, making it a enriching place to live and work, preserving and expanding its historic and cultural assets, and supporting community nonprofits that serve those in need.
The Los Altos Community Foundation serves Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and the surrounding area by promoting community building — those activities and facilities that give the community its favorable character, making it a desirable place to live and work. Community building includes projects and activities that:

-preserve our communities' physical heritage
-enhance community based philanthropic activities
-promote communications and positive relationships among community members and organizations
create a shared vision for the future
-build civic pride and community spirit
-encourage involvement in the community

In pursuit of this mission, the Foundation provides:
-support to civic, cultural and philanthropic organizations
-youth and teacher grants
-leadership training
-civic education
-fiscal sponsorships for public benefit causes
-donor advised fund management
-designated fund management
-mediation and conflict resolution services
