Alpinisms is an electronically enhanced pop record of dizzying highs and claustrophobic lows, whose painstaking conception shows in its detail-laden crevices. On the albums best tracks, Benjamin Curtis constructs layers of shoegazing, moire-patterned guitars, while sisters Alejandra and Claudia Deheza intertwine their near-identical voices like the fingers of praying hands. Throughout, the whole heavenly affair is tethered to the ground with a glitchy, tribal thwomp.
In Alpinisms, technology collides with cryptic religious imagery and airtight songcraft; knowledge begets action; and School of Seven Bells master an alien climate with effortless artistry.

still so beautiful. incredible live.
I still miss the Secret Machines so much though,
I knew without Benjamin things would never be the same.
He is truly one of the most talented musicians ever. Any success
that continues to come with SVIIB is only just deserved.

Hmmm... I do believe this is the perfect music to go with a Klimt or Art Nouveau picture or a picture in the style of these things.
Great band, and a great song.

Very talented band. Can't believe I just heard for 1st time. Have always loved Cocteau, Lush. I think I understand that one of the twins is not currently in the band? Beautiful, mesmerizing, and remarkable. Will listen further, me likee
