Liberal Democrat MP John Hemming annoys the Speaker because he breaks yet another super-injunction with the naming of a footballer who was trying to cover up an affair.

Recorded from BBC Parliament, 23 May 2011.

  • @InappropriateSurname MPs are protected by Parliament Privilege. The press have a legal right and are free to report on ALL debates in the House of Commons and Lords, ergo, once the print press (usually), or as in this video clip, a TV station has transmitted it, it's out there.

It's a very old law, no wonder the judges want to get rid of that law.

  • Can't believe people are having a go at John Hemming here - he did the right thing in exposing Giggs in a completely open way. These injunctions are the first step towards cutting out freedom of speech.

  • crap answer from Dominic Grieve. What a corrupt bunch.

  • thank heavens for John Hemming. I think he is the only honest MP in Westminster

  • Shame on Hemming for siding with Rupert Murdoch and the vicious, criminal, hacking, lying, tittle-tattle gossiping gutter press that have done so much harm to this country. Hemming of course has had more than his share of extra-marital sex, and hardly came out smelling of roses over expenses claims either..

  • dont you just wanna punch the speaker when he says order when someone whispers ? it reminds me of an old teacher :L

  • cool again-------------but we do it better

  • He's not breaking the super-injunction as he is an MP in the House of Commons and has the right to absolute freedom of speech without repercussion. Ie he van say anything he wants even if it's illegal to do so and nothing will happen to him. MPs often use this to slander each other within the House. Were they to do so outside the House then they could be charged with a crime.

  • Order is for the mid session Chinese takeaway.

  • order is the posh way of saying shut the fuck up.

  • Why is it that when someone new talks like 4 people stand up then sit back down :/
