Salvador "Tutti" Camarata was a composer, arranger and trumpeter. His early career was as a trumpet player for bands such as Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman. He did arranging for Glen Gray, Benny Goodman, Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby, Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington and many others. In 1958 he formed Sunset Sound Recorders - where during his 16 year association with Disney he produced over 300 albums for them. He wrote Trumpeters Prayer especially for Conrad Gozzo, who played one of the purest trumpets ever. Upon recording his signature song, "Trumpeter's Prayer," in one take, "Gozzo" received a standing ovation from the studio members.

  • Fabulous! Ethereal!

  • Beautiful song

  • One of the greats -- no doubt.

  • jmccracken1963. It was also included in an earlier movie titled "Story of Three Loves"

I think the XVIII, also has elements of what makes Trumpeter's Prayer so beautiful. I also think you are quite familiar with it.

  • jmccracken1963. The album cover had on it; "RACHMANINOFF: RHAPSODY ON A THEME OF PAGANINI, OP 43....Philippe Entremont, pianist". In a note on the back by, Charles Burr, he says of the VXIII variation, "Emotional pay dirt; D-flat major, 3/4. Piano solo, then orchestra in a Rachmaninoff Nocturn of great beauty, simplicity, and tenderness. One of my all time favorites. The "XVIII" was included in the movie "Somewhere in Time". Not as it's theme, but as part of the story. (C'ont)

  • jmccracken1963. Again, thanks for the info. I used to know how to spell THAIS; I forgot at the time I wrote the comment. Seems to me that you are far more knowledgeable than I about classical music. I have no clue what "Scene d'amour" of Berlioz' ROMEO ET JULIETTE is. Perhaps I can find it here on YouTube.

What we both obviously appreciate, is great music like this. I got the phrase "emotional pay dirt" from the back of an album that I also bough in the early 1960's. (C'ont)

  • @GORTCLATUMIRADA Yes, it could be compared to the Meditation from Massenet's opera THAIS; what gets me, too, is the quote in the string passage (in the middle of the piece) from the "Scene d'amour" of Berlioz' dramatic symphony ROMEO ET JULIETTE.

  • @jmccracken1963

    Thank You jmccracken1963.

I just played it again after seeing your comment; unbelievably beautiful!!

I compare it too the violin piece "Meditations" by Theas(sp?) as emotional paydirt.!!

  • @GORTCLATUMIRADA The cover pictured here is from the CD reissue of the albums TUTTI'S TRUMPETS and TUTTI'S TROMBONES.

  • Obrigada por postar este video com uma musica tão maravilhosa. è um balsamo para a alma. Five stars. MEGPESSOA 24/6/2010
