For six days in October of 2009, typhoon Peping swept back and forth across Northern Luzon. It crossed the island, stopped, went back the way it came, stopped, and went back across a third time. On the third pass it had weakened to a tropical depression but it was impressive in its rainfall. Baguio City had thousands of landslides. More than 200 people died. At Philippine College of Ministry where I teach, the hillside behind the college gave way and caused a great deal of damage to the campus...
