if you change your calculator to Scientific Mode then your calculator gives you 7.75E7. You can skip all that division crap

@Kiba0wolf - you can use the Scientific Mode because the normal mode will default to scientific mode if the number is very large or small.

I may have confused myself with my initial question. The lesson you are providing within this video can only work if you are raising "10" to x power. Otherwise to raise, say 9, to x power, you would have to use the method that you say is taught to most students by math and science teachers incorrectly?

@TinnInches - I think I know what you are saying......in the video...I said that you could represent say 1.2 x 10^3 as 1.2 E 3.....is correct....but If you have to raise any other number to a different power you would just have to key it in as some number raised to the number x....(# ^x.....9 ^2 = 81.....then yes you would be correct....and yes...the incorrect method basically....see in science classes we use sci.notation a lot....but in math class they do not...so just use the number with (#^x)

What if the base is something other than 10. What would you do then? I'm guessing 2nd function, is only if the base is 10.

@TinnInches - well man...it would be a nasty process but not impossible....I would look up videos for converting to other bases...but essentially you do a lot of dividing using logs and remainders (decimals)......I am sure YouTube has tons of videos for it...Also, google would have tons of stuff on it as well :)
