This is a 2 part video to help those who are new to deployments or those who are a little fuzzy on the details of how things went the last time their loved one deployed.

Part 1 covers the following:

*Power of Attorney
*Bills and Automatic Bill Pay
*Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act
*BAH and where you'll live while he's deployed

Some things for Soldiers (my boyfriend sent me suggestions for soldiers!):

*What to pack in your rucksack immediately before deploying
*What to do with your duffle bag to make things easier for you when you get to Kuwait.

Part 2 of this video includes:

*Some fantastic computer messenger services that are very helpful in maintaining a great relationship while he's deployed.

*Some emotional things to look out for in you both during that pre-deployment phase.

Here's a link to Military21Wife's Youtube channel. She's really nice, so check her out.

  • Probably not a good idea to give her/him a general power of attorney effective while he she is alive....friend of mines wife went out sold his Corvette...got a boob job...maxed all of his credit cards (shopping)...then filed for the big D and settled it for him as well.....of course I'm sure your significant other would NEVER do this to you.....but just in case....

  • @Fastjetdriver Yes, there is a concern there. If you don't know your wife very well, you wouldn't want to do this. That situation was probably the exception. Most wives don't do that. I am sorry to hear about your friend, though. General power of attorney does have limits, and even *with* the GPoA, there are lots of hoops to jump through. GPoA is very useful, though, and will help a lot of GOOD wives. You shouldn't punish the good ones for the bad deeds of the few. Thanks for the comment!
