If yer no from round they parts do not try and give it the Hemmingway and join in, because you'll probably get emptied. However if ye are a mug it's worth remembering that how you arrive on Orknay (Mainland) determines wether yer an Uppie or a Doonie. By boat yer one, by air yer another, have a go and find out which, believe me it won't take long. These boys take it serious and they dinnae fanny about so watch it, but if ye fancy getting rolled by a squad of trawlermen or farm boys be my guest.

Wow now i know what a Ba is, im well impressed it looks like a few broken jaws n noses will have to be sorted after that 1 haha.

From inverness myself was woking up in Orkney this week and seen the pics in the local chippy,would love to come up and see this is full swing maybe when i come home from Australia i will come see it haha i will be sitting in the pub with the ladies though keep out of the way from the local tradition.

yes, it isent realy a game that tourist can 'play'. But if you bye and studdie the books that are in 'The Orcadian Bookshop', then you might have a chance to understand it.

The Ba is a local tradition, it is not an attraction for adventure tourists to come and try. Passions and loyalties go back generations. if you are not raised around it then you will neither understand it nor have any knowledge that will make you any use to the team you decide to play for. The game doesn't need any more players.

Actually this game was called football before soccer was even invented. (Soccer is just a toned down version of games like this)
