Following Google's decision last week to block AdSense from web sites less than five days old, it looks like ICANN is removing the five day trial period for owning a domain name. This would stop the practice that was abused by "Domain Tasters" -- people who take out a name for four days, put up Google ads, collect the money from the ads, and then cancel the name before they have to pay for it. So now, no return policy on domain names. You're going to have to be really sure before you pull the trigger on that $7 domain name.

For those of you who might like to watch the Free Line Report offline, a tool known as Miro might be just the thing for you. It's free, and it allows you to grab any video with an RSS Feed (including YouTube videos) and store them on your hard drive to watch at a later time, just like podcasts and iTunes.

Firefox is clearly the web browser for SEO enthusiasts, with so many useful plugins and tools that it's hard to keep up with all of them. To help you navigate and pick the best of the best, TopRankBlog.com has a great article listing all the top SEO plugins for Firefox. (And of course, they're all free.)

MySpace releases its new developer platform this week, and it's going to support Google's Open Social platform support right out of the box. Not that anyone else is, but this should be a shot in the arm for open Social. Since FaceBook made its platform portable to every web site last week, the social network Widget Wars are heating up. The two giants are trying to outdo one another in creating new ways to connect with your friends and, as Wired's Scott Gilbertson says, play dumb games and take meaningless quizzes.

Delver is a new search engine project that pulls in data from your social network to make the results more relevant to you. Their goals is to allow you to view search results based on a social graph, giving you results that are less commercial and more personally relevant. Cool idea -- good luck to Delver.

  • Not impressed. You sound like you're reading off some cards, etc. I like the information, but the narration is difficult for me.
