A collection of photographs from various websites featuring abandoned schools, asylums, hospitals, churches & factories. I've always been fascinated with industrial decay. The song is Gary Jules' "Mad World." [Never met him, but we went to the same school, only a few years apart.]

There was a time not long ago where Asylums were nothing more than human dumping grounds for unwanted or so-called embarassing family members. These sons daughters and the like were dicarded to these terrible places of suffering where Doctors who were often failed medical practitioners were sent to "deal" with these people and the terrible conditions that persisted in the mental institutions. It was a terrible thing. Some of these people didn't need to be there and they were forgotten.
