The cost of the bags pays for curbside pick up of recyclables. Peaks, which is part of Portland, has curbside pickup of co-mingled recyclable materials. It's a pretty good system, as it encourages the residents to recycle more and therefore pay for fewer bags at $1.50 a pop.

It's a cool experience - especially if you have a dog. Dogs love the place.
