@ScarletNubian And that is where the difference lies my friend, people that are commiting adultery and fornication do not try to use the Bible to justify it, they know it is wrong and they admit it, but people who are homosexuals try to put words in God's mouth in order to justify their ways and to suppress their guilt and that is just wrong. If you want to be gay, go right ahead but don't try to make it seem like God made it that way or you don't have a choice, we all do...
BTW for all those saying they have know this since they were 9, I just want to say something here, the fact that you experienced whatever you claimed to have experienced at a young age does not make it right, it is like every other temptation. At 9 you get tempted to lie, you get tempted to steal, you get tempted to be jealous, you get all of those feeling, but it crosses the line and becomes a sin when you actually do it. God is not stupid and made us heteros for a reason. He is the greatest.
@Maxportal are you serious right now? If you want not be gay be gay but do not use God to justify your evil ways. If God believes that and made you that way then why did he destroy Sodom and Gomorrah? How can you in one sentence say the Bible was translated by man and use that to justify you being correct and in the next statement quote the same Bible or was that part not translated by man as well? People who are gay can go ahead but stop putting words in God's mouth because of your guilt...
Genesis 19:4-5 describes what followed, which confirms the verdict as to the sin of Sodom and its end (RSV):
But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house; and they called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them (NIV: can have sex with them , NJB: can have intercourse with them)."
Bisi Alimi still remains one of my heros, this interview was part of my motivation to go to Nigeria to do more for LGBT people. I finally met him in person in 2006 when I moved to Nigeria, we lived on the same estate in Lagos, he is a fighter, and I am truly grateful for this ground breaking honest interview.
We dare to come out as gay because we are tired of being in the closet, gay people need to appreciate themselves, More love Rev Jide Macaulay
Bisi said that Nigeria is a society in Bondage, I believe that Nigerians are in denial of the facts and unless LGBT people begin to rally and stand up to face the situation and not be ashamed of being gay, when politicians and popular entertainers, and religious leaders begin to speak out about their own sexuality and positively about other gay people, then we will come to a place of reconciliation and understanding. Well done Bisi, Rev Jide Macaulay
man this guy is still fucking confused . . . and i remember him telling me personally he has done girl before but didnt feel it . . . man u need deliverance
This guy is a role model. Being Gay has NOTHING to do with the so called perversion of the society. If that is the case, every single person who has sex outside marriage should be condemned and killed because, the last time I checked, it was a sin in both the bible AND the Quran.
I grew up in Lagos, but I live in Toronto now. Bisi is bang on in his analysis of being gay. I knew I was gay when I was nine years old, people do not choose to be gay they are born gay , because nine year old children do not know better. IN addition most of all this is based on social constructs and ideology, the bible (leviticus) was translated by human beings, and the same Bible says spare the rod and spoil the child , we as a society are beginning to see that spanking a child is wrong.
u sound really dumb u knw! imagine if u were bisi! sometimes u gotta put urself in other[s shoes and try imagine hw it must feel being harassed all the time. get with the time...or let God b he judge. fool!@africanqueen
