@velisima100 hahah well i was born and raised in america. so to my family that's born and raised in kenya i'm nothing like them -- different culture. but when i was growing up here in the U.S., all the kids just see the different last name and my parents speaking another language and i'm tagged as Kenyan. So it's like i can morph into whoever i want to be. shared identities! i think that's how it is for a majority of first generation americans: we live in two worlds.

Lady.. the fact that you are born in America does not mean anything. You are still Kenyan, Stop acting like you are half. YOU ARE ON A HUGE DENIAL !!!

@essynish LOL! never said i was half. to my cousins born/raised in kenya, they'd laugh at me (& they do) if i ever claimed to be "kenyan kabisa" ("completely kenyan"). That's why i say i'm kenyan american. American by culture and nationality. Kenyan by heritage. A heritage i love. I am my Kenyan parents' American child, they tell me this all the time. When I'm in Kenya, i will ALWAYS be known as the American. And when I'm here, people know me as the Kenyan. I choose to be both, and that's okay.
