A New York Times lead story today reports that U.S. officials have confirmed the involvement of members of Pakistan's intelligence service in last month's bombing of the Indian Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, as well as their role in undermining US efforts in the tribal areas between the two countries. Pakistan's Ambassador Husain Haqqani appeared on my program today and responded to the article. In the interview, he also announced a new agreement between the US and Pakistan to take measures against the militants.

Ambassador Haqqani was joined by his wife, Farahnaz Ispahani, a member of Pakistan's parliament. She also responded to the Times' article. Here is a part of that conversation:

Pakistan is the number one problem spot in the world...a country ruled by corrupt people in the military and civilian sectors backed by the US, who use international funds to support their own lavish lifestyles, and a backward islamic population which is more muslim than the Arabs, creating all the terrorist vermin such as Ramsay Yussaf and alike, putting defenseless civilians in India, US, Europe, and Asia in harm's way.
