Creating Vector Flourishes and Swirls in Inkscape

One of the big design trends of recent years have been flourishes and swirls. These look fantastic and can take a plain design to the next level. I had difficulty in finding a tutorial that takes you through all the steps needed. In the video I have used the inkscape spiral tool but the same effect can be used on most paths
