Camp Quixote -Muslims feeding homeless Veterans on Christmas day. Currently, they are camping in the parking lot of the Church in downtown Olympia till Feb.28th 2010 - http://www.firstchristianolympia.org/

We call this the "$5.00 campaign" - will you give, please ?

Directions from the Islamic center of Olympia - to 701 Franklin St. SE in downtown Olympia.
1- Get on I-5 south to Portland. Travel 3 miles.
2- Exit 105 and take the first right on the fork.
3- Keep veering to your right and you shall be on PLUM street.
4- Make a left onto 8th street (McDonald's at the corner)
5- Make a right turn on Franklin.
6- Park in front of white church building and come to the parking lot.
7- Open the wooded gate and meet us for set-up of food and clothes distribution.

What role can volunteers play ?
1- Meet and greet the homeless veterans.
2- Set-up food distribution- breakfast items, soups, hot curry, croissants, bagels etc.
3- We need 3 dedicated camera-people who document all of this for encouraging other muslims, later on.
4- Engaging any of the Sponsor church personnel or other visitors, if they choose to ask questions about Islam.
5- Help in clean-up and return by 11 am.
6- Earn blessings and bonus points instantly by putting 700 verses of the Holy Quran into action by community service.

Camp Quixote is a tent city that provides safe haven for people experiencing homelessness.
The camp is a member run, democratic community that operates with the aid of a broad-based support committee known as the Panza group.

Camp Quixote was initially created to protest the new sidewalk law passed by the City of Olympia. As the street community watched their access to public space shrink, they gathered to organize and stake their claim to exist - openly and without shame.
