Thats so beautiful...i hope one day to have that happen to me and i get to witness an owl

Being a raptor of the tundra, most hunting is done from the ground or on the wing, not necessarily a high perch.

Killing an owl (or any non-game native bird species) is a federal offence no matter where you are in the US; they are protected under the migratory bird treaty act.

Good idea. They don't come out this far south unless their native lands are empty of prey. Consequently they get hungry--very hungry.
They're powerful enough to take down rabbits or juvenile deer, so it's a good idea to keep watch on your pets whenever you see these or their good relatives the Great Horned Owls out and about.
Don't get any ideas though; shooting owls is illegal in many states, and there are few better ways to increase the rodent population than by killing owls.
The most beautiful raptor I know of. Usually when it finds a high perch like this, it's looking for prey (everything from rats to stray cats). When it finally flew off, did you see what it tore to shreds?

Well I didn't get to see it fly off, but I made sure my pomeranian was not out alone... LOL
