The tenth of Leo Brouwer's Estudios Sencillos. To steal my friend Joel's coinage: "Etudical!"

Next Stop: Rest Stroke, but before I have that down I thought I'd get this recorded.

  • The rhythm doesn't feel right on this to me, the start feels out of time and those chromatic runs feel as if they're starting on the beat, not on the second semiquaver.

You need to express the syncopation in these parts, its a major part of this piece.

I can't deny that its well played though, just sort out those rhythms :)

  • Thanks for the thoughtful comment, and I think you're exactly right. I think I was getting caught up in hitting the notes and lost the rhythm somewhere along the way. I really should rerecord this at some point, I enjoy playing it very much.

Thanks for watching, and for the constructive criticism! By the way, I enjoyed your Mazurka Choro very much, I look forward to someday working on it ;)

  • Thanks very much! This is a great study for muting, I think...

  • perdon pero esta mal

  • ok then mr know it all

  • si tienes la partitura te puedes dar cuenta que tu acento esta mal hecho...

    eso

    =)

  • Yeah, its a really cool piece, I love the almost serial/pointilistic feel to it. But those bluesy chords at the start are magic.

Thanks for the comment on the Marzurka :)

Its a beautiful piece. You'll learn a lot from it when you work on it.

I also really enjoyed your recording of Etude 1, its a great interpretation of the piece.

Keep up the good work :)

  • nice
