Have decided to write my own game state manager, naturally the idea came from the MS Sample, so as ever I am re inventing the wheel..

I have implemented 2D pixel shaders in the system so you can have some nice effect on your fonts and menu backgrounds. It is hard to see from this screen shot the effect the shader are having so I have put up a short movie to show the effect.

  • i have a question i'm building a game where i'm trying to use the GameState i'm trying to find out a way where if i get hit 5 times it says You lose and then i want the gamestate to pop up and say do you want to play again...how can i find a tutorial or a code to show me how to do it

  • They are done using Pixel shaders. Some I have found on MSDN and modified for this manager others I have written my self.

    You can apply shaders like this to any SpriteBatch.Draw and SpriteBatch.DrawString call, it is also how I am texturing the fonts and apply the refraction effect to the second menu option.
