Salaam Alikum tvisions110, Muslims try to stay away from claims of being "chosen by Allah" because we all know what that might lead to. And the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) does not have the power to "choose" because (PBUH) is no longer alive. This is the kind of thinking that may lead to deviating from Tawheed and "worshiping" Idols. The most we can say is that Br. Hamza Yusuf may be blessed by Allah to serve him. Salaam!

@muscleslave001 its not compulsory to learn arabic language on all muslims but in order to be able to understand Islam directly, in order to be able to read and understand the Qur'an directly it is important to learn the arabic language. Learning arabic language in anyway is a Fard Kiffayah (in a society if a few people do it than the fard is fulfilled) since the knowledge of Islam is in arabic as the it is the language of Qur'an and the Prophet and the earliest muslims.

Well, muscleslave001, there are many reasons for that. One of the reasons is that we, as Allah (SWT) promised to keep His message intact, pray and read Qur'an in Arabic so that Islam will not be subject to infiltration as Christianity.

What is the idea behind in Islam about people having to learn arab language ? Is it not true, that G-d will understand in whatever language we pray to Him ? If that is true, then what is the logic of learning a new language [ whatever, that might be ] arab in this case.

you are wrong about that,some sufis say that Allah is everywhere, but the sufis on the right path follow th Aqida of Tahawi, ash ari , and maturidi. which states that allah is not contained by the six directions, up,down,left,right,front,back,­that means allah exists without space or time, the true salaf scholars said, that anything you can imagine in your mind that is not Allah,and that is the belief of Ahlusunna wal jama3h, to say that Allah sits on the throne or Allah is everywhere isblasphemy

i love seeing the muslim unity and community. i'm not a practicing muslim myself. the only problem i have is the girl saying this doesn't count. i think this count for a lot in that this is where we determine our hereafter. this is the challenge.
