Andi Hug was one of the best fighters of the contemporary ages. He was a true martial artist, who not only trained a lot in techniques (as many do), but also followed the spiritual "way of the warrior" (Bushido), which says the martial artist should develop his inner strenght and not just the outer one, therefore respect for the opponent and refusal of unnecessary violence was part of his moral code. You won't find another real life fighter who was more close to the anime and movies heroes.
Andy Hug was the only K-1 fighter ever to be rewarded an honorary samurai title by K-1 founder Kazuyoshi Ishii. He's technique was close to flawless. Andy RIP
