What difference would it make if all women in the world, even the poorest, could make decisions about when and how many children to have? 200 million women who want them, don't have access to contraceptives. We don't talk about this inequity because the uncontroversial idea of deciding when to have a child has somehow become shrouded in controversy. And the victims of this paralysis are the poorest people in the world. Melinda Gates talks here about how, working together, we can change this for all women.

I didn't say "carp" pr crap for that matter....

I understand that they want people to reproduce (even if they can't afford to care for the children they have), ok, I get it. I was brought up Catholic and understand all of their arguments for people to have kids (believe me, i hear them almost every time i see my father)

What I am saying is: it isn't responsible to tell people entrenched in the AIDS epidemic that condoms aren't to be used.

it is not only about religion, but control and power, Pope is just a human like everyone else and if someone thinks they can use contraception, their opinion has the same value as pope's. Also, women have right not to marry, not have sex and have equal pay, education regardless of their religion. This is not happening because of their beliefs, but because political and cultural control.

No, the behaviour of some people who AIDS is not responsible. The thing is that Catholic church does not say - do it without condom, catholic church says - don't do it at all. Catholic Church holds a moral view on the issue.

    I don't think you understand.

"With regard to physical, economic, psychological and social conditions, responsible parenthood is exercised by those who prudently and generously decide to have more children, and by those who, for serious reasons and with due respect to moral precepts, decide not to have additional children for either a certain or an indefinite period of time." (Encyclical letter Human Vitae, Paul VI).

    YES! thank you!

if you actually care about unborn babies and want to decrease abortion rates, the best way to do that is to prevent unwanted pregnancies in the first place!

Good for you! But don't deny the right of free will to others. If God gave you free will then he granted it to others and you have no right to stand in the way if that is what you are intending to do.
