P-51 Mustang of Flying Heritage Museum, taxis past spectators after flight. Nothing sounds like a Merlin!

No: the Packard is not improved, only a license built RR engine and the first packard V-1650 suffer at crankshaft brokes because improper built ... (metallurgy problems): not the same built quality as by Roll Royce...

  • @jjmnky a merlin pulling a spitfire through the sky :P

  • Music at it's best. The music that turned the tide of W W11.

  • Nothing sounds as sweet as a merlin pulling a p-51 through the sky.

  • That engine was made in America though. The Packard V-1650 was a modified, updated and improved variant of the Rolls Royce Merlin!

  • You are entitled to your opinion, but I think most pilots would disagree with you. Merlin, I believe, would be better thought of by most pilots.

  • An Allison still sounds better though!!!!
