Problem is the STI was only available in the hatchback so they had literally no choice.

The EJ25 in the STI is Ok however the X makes more power per mod, which let's be honest, you don't buy these cars to keep them stock. I've had both and there is a reason why my X has 650 at the wheels and the subaru blows up when you try and push more than 500 to the wheels

For me its appearance.. the Subaru is kinda.. plain and ugly.. where the Mitsubishi is very pretty and agressive looking... love it..
