does it matter? are you going to be able to sound like him? no. you can't sound like him, nor can you sound like me. Or that guy you sit beside in band. Theres more to tone than reeds, mouthpieces and horns you know.
I realize that tones differ between different people, and that everyone has (or develops) their own sound. There is no need to be "holier-than-thou", sir. I am no idiot.

but you're right everyones tone/sound is different on a certain level. More so at the pro level
However, reeds, mouthpieces and horns can still play a part in how someone sounds.
