On February 9 and 10th, 2009, BIDMC Director of Marketing Rhonda Mann underwent a full spinal fusion to correct a lifelong spinal curvature (scoliosis). In this video diary, she chronicles the journey before and after the two-day surgery, including her recovery and hopes for a pain-free life.
I would love to know how she's feeling now! I'm 17 years old with sever scoliosis and my surgeon is recommending me to have surgery, but my chiropractor is advising me otherwise. If anyone reading this comment has had experience with this, let me know! Because honestly... I'm scared out of my brains at the thought of a surgery like that on my spine!

Thankyou for sharing this Rhonda. I am 33 years old and am having surgery next week. Most people I have been able to chat with about the surgery are all quite a bit younger than me so it's great to see you making such a great recovery post-surgery (as this has been worrying me a great deal when I factor in my age!) Can I ask how you are going now (as in pain and mobility) and was this a standard 'titanium rod' procedure?...Would be great to hear from you! Cheers! Ali
