This is the B1 OLPC XO hardware having a software and firmware update during development cycle.
It's as easy as formating a memory stick with FAT; download a zip file from OLPC development site (see wiki.laptop.org for directions and warnings); decompress the zip file at the memory stick root. That's it!
Plug it at the laptop and start it up!
The rest of the process is automatic. It checks the version at the internal memory (NAND Flash) of the device and compares with the version at the stick; after that it checks the integrity of the firmware inside the stick and if it is ok, and applyable, it also updates the firmware.
After the process it shuts down. The next startup will be a fresh new installation.
So does that mean you can boot from a memory stick?
please reply. Because their are not enough Video tutorials for this machine.
