World famous, the Hluhluwe and Imfolozi game reserves were founded in 1895 and are the oldest such sanctuaries in Africa. In 1989 the two parks were joined together to become the Hluhluwe/Irnfolozi park as it is today. It used to be the hunting grounds of the Zulu Kings and is also renowned for bringing the black and white rhino back from extinction.
Big Five: Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo and Black Rhino - These are the most dangerous animals to hunt, this is why the BLACK RHINO is part of the Big Five and not the White Rhino. The Black Rhino is far more aggressive than the White. The Hluhluwe/ Imfolozi park has the highest population of Black Rhino in the world.
