how many courts of paint would some one need for a 69' Camaro/Firebird? and would you need the same amount of primer and clear?
gtocarguy 2 months ago
@gtocarguy The amount needed varies based upon spray technique, but we would estimate that you'd probably need around 2-4 quarts of primer, 2-6 quarts of color and 5-6 quarts of clear. If you are going from a dark to light color, then you may need more primer to sufficiently hide the original basecoat. Although not required, we do recommend applying many coats of clear so that you do not cut through when buffing... Just as a reference, we put on 6 coats of clear for all of our projects...

What prep would you recommend prior to base coat for a pickup with a previous acrylic paint job?
cyman976 6 months ago
@cyman976 It depends on how old the acrylic enamel is. If it is several years old over 2 years then you can scuff sand, perform your body work then apply the Paint Shop primer. If it is a fairly recent paint job less than 2 years then the Paint Shop may not agree with the enamel. It will lift it.

i was wondering what do you ad to the paint shop system base for use on urethane bumpers like a an 87 Monte SS nose pad so it wont peel or flake or crack?
irrk1 7 months ago
@irrk1 If you are painting over existing paint then all you need to do is scuff and feather sand. If you are applying Paint Shop over bare urethane then you will have to apply our Adhesion Promoter CP199.
