The audio loses sync pretty early on.

Those folks that made shrek just don't get it. I bet they were thinking... "how can we fill up 2 hours of 'movie'" as if they could just dump garbage with hardly any plot, jokes worse than anything i've found in a cracker jack box, and character development that is as dramatic as an episode of barney and friends.

one hundred million hours to render?? That's over TEN THOUSAND YEARS....Am i hearing this right??

It's funny tho, I think I can do all the cgi scenes in the first Tron within a week. And I'm yet considered as a beginner in 3D animation. That's just so unfair !! ^^

actually, softimage was used for t2 and jurassic park. the discovery people should do their research...
-
Were they using Nt.3.51 for Shrek?
-
@FpsMuch I like how they ignore Pixar. Bloody mac people.

True, how odd this documentary only mentioned Dreamworks. Dreamworks wasn't even born when Pixar's Toy Story wrote the history of computer animation.
-
I like how when people talk in this its out of sync
How the hell can you not mention Ed Catmull/Pixar in this.. Toy story was the first ever fully computer animated feature. I cannot believe how biased this documentary is.

fully agree with all posts relating to the lack of content regarding Pixar, I was personally involved in the advertising of Toy Story for buisness marketing at sun microsystems. However Pixar content sadly wasnt in this particular documentry.

Agreed, Toy Story was the first and broke new ground in every respect, and definately ought to have been included as a major contributer for this doc. Shrek did experiment with many new techniques that had not been established prior, ie fluid, flame and cloth dynamics. Im guessing discovery channel has links with Dreamworks or Pixar didnt wish to contribute, being they released their own full length production. Pixar the story.
