New receiver (upper and lower) standard length for AR15/M16 rifles. Multi-caliber, accepts all M16 (STANAG), AK and M14 mags. Bolts stop works for M16 and M14 mags. Most internal parts stay the same.
Coupled AK mags (as pictured) or drum mags don't fit into all the other AR15/M16 AK-conversion receivers neither in the MASADA/ACR AK-lower.
For military use there was the requirement to take pick-up battlefield mags. Since these coupled mags are quite commonly seen at the enemy you get a problem here.
Thats why the receiver must have the same (or less) receiver shape like the original AK.
AR15 mags require the separate mag well as pictured. Remove the mag well (no tools) for use of all AK mags. For M14 mags you have to remove the AK insert from the receiver.
Bolt carrier retrofitted with ambidextrous bolt handle, trigger group original M16 (modified safety and auto-sear). Less friction surface between upper receiver (steel) and bolt carrier, more space around, for better work under harsh conditions. Can accept larger, heavier bolts (7.62x51/.308) or even different bolt designs.
Given that there is one universal bolt carrier that is able to ride over all the different mag lips there would be a different bolt, barrel and mag (mag well) for each caliber necessary only. The rest like upper/lower, gas system, bolt carrier, action spring a.s.o. stays the same.
Lower receiver (1.5mm sheet metal/steel) has a hole completely going through wich takes the pin of a gun rack. Safety lever snaps into a circular groove of that pin. Safety must be on "safe". Otherwise won't fit into the rack. That way the rifle is forced to be on safe when stored in a gun room for example.
First stick the muzzle into the front hole of the gun rack than push the receiver hole towards the pin - safety lever will engage automatically. To get the gun off the rack take the pistol grip, push the rebounding safety lever upwards and pull out the rifle.
Rack can be mounted either way, muzzle to the right or left (up and down...).
In that receiver hole you can also see if the hammer is cocked, if so a bar juts out. The pin of the gun rack has a corresponding slot. If the pin is mounted with that slot forward the gun can be put into the rack with hammer cocked (as shown) - if mounted with the slot rearwards, only with hammer decocked. As required by the user. (Can be put on safe with hammer down.)
Rack pin and receiver hole can be used for other applications as well - locking the gun, power supply for electronic equipment, data transfer a.s.o.
Non-shooting prototype (pesky german gun law).

Some thoughts regarding the MGI Modular Weapon System (since it often turns up in the comments here):

One problem is the lower consisting of to halfes connected via a dovetail junction (limited space, stability).
If I take a look at an AR receiver side by side to an M14 mag
http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/9256/img3422rxl2.jpg
there is not even 1mm left over to introduce some kind of rugged dovetail junction (standard length system).
Experimental version: http://a.imageshack.us/img713/2267/mgim14versionconsidered.jpg

What happens if you push the mag release (which locks the mag well) and than create pressure, push or hit from below against the handguard for example. Not quite so unlikely if you take cover and change the mag at the same time.
This would create considerable forces especially on the both take down pin areas. Imagine an upper with some loose fit to the lower...
Stability and ruggedness is why I prefer one-piece designs over those composed of several parts.

You need for the AK and M14 mags a new/modified upper due to different internal dimensions of the mag well area. So you don not ONLY need a new multi-caliber lower but also an upper.
This was the thought behind my redesigned receiver. If you need a new upper and lower anyways you can improve it in other aspects as well. Keeping it compatible with all other components (barrel, handguards, stocks, grips etc.).
This is seems to be a drawback of the MGI QCB design. It looks as if it doesn't allow the use of standard handguards. But would be better if - since they often seem to be the most expensive accessory.

If I watch the AK mag well it doesn't seem to accept coupled mags.
And they seem to use/plan different mag wells for the different AK mags (5.56, 5.45, 7.62 - they all have different dimensions). Can be done all in one - it's a bit tricky but possible (take a look at my MAK16 video).

  • There's no sound! I think this machine is what I'm lookin' for, but I need more info. SOUND would help! BJG.

  • @MAESTRO0013

Thanks! There is a "novel of a desription" as somebody complained here a few days ago, hope this will cover your need for more info.

    :-)

  • Go SCAR-H

  • @venomDgamer

The SCAR-H as it is right now takes the 7.62 NATO only despite all the long-standing announcements it would be multi-caliber sometime. But there exist a way to make it multi-caliber... mine of course (latest video).

  • @jdrpepper79

Hmm, the very few who are really interested will...

  • @troubleshooterBerlin lol you actually expect people to read that novel of a description on a youtube vid?

  • Well, having this weapon would certainly save money buying another rifle. When all you'd need is a stock of magazines for different calibers, plus different caliber cartridges.

  • @xxxCRAZYLOVExxx Yes, the H&K G3 platform uses the .308 NATO (7.62x51mm)

  • why so much hate? its a great concept and if it works thats amazing. chill the fuck out

  • @Code1088 the 308 is the one that the G3A3 uses right?

  • The lastest mag, then it's look like m14

  • Video should have been titled ''How to ruin a perfectly good AR-15''
