Leading a horse means first of all to lead yourself, your spirit, your entire appearance. Hempfling, with his professional background in communications has shaken up the international horse world. http://www.hempfling.com. He is working with these powerful, dignified creatures in accordance with nature. The development of the rider's "presence" and an orientation to holistic principles is integral to this work. Klaus has the ability to "know" a horse within a few seconds and within a few minutes of the first meeting, he establishes a relationship so firmly that anything after that is completely based on trust. Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling (The Horse Seeks Me) is touching equestrians worldwide, with response in fields like natural horsemanship, horse whispering, classical and freestyle dressage, equestrian sports, western riding, endurance, eventing and horse riding in general. He is at the forefront on working and interacting with horses and is known for authentic and effective groundwork according to the horses' nature, often proved and documented with stallions (breeding stallions). His stallion training enables a very controlled natural mating of mares. He also often works with young green horses, colt as well as filly, and his gentle and natural preparation for further training and riding makes very happy horses. He considers the horse's psyche (horse psychology) and communicates via body language with these beautiful creatures. His first book, 'Dancing with Horses' met with overwhelming success, especially in pleasure riding and natural riding. In the book 'What Horses Reveal' he describes his unique Horse Characterization system of 26 different horse types which is a great help for everyone dealing with horses to understand them better. The KFH Horse character system and horse profile is also often applied on horses for sale to ensure matching to the right person and at studs to ensure the optimal pedigree. Klaus lived with wild horses in wilderness to observe their animal language and natural horse behaviour. In the beauty of this nature he developed his principals of the 'first encounter' of human and horse. One of the newest publications is "The Path of The Horse" by Stormy May http://www.thepathofthehorse.com/Home... where Hempfling is portrayed together with Alexander Nevzorov, Mark Rashid, Linda Kohanov and Carolyn Resnick. One of his specialities is the work with difficult and aggressive horses. Hempfling transforms dangerous, nervous, traumatized horses into cooperative companions. They recognize him as their leader, and become willing partners in groundwork and under saddle. Also in the baroque dressage he is discussed along with names like Bent Branderup, Richard Hinrichs, Philippe Karl, Anja Beran, Sherry Ackermann and Nuno Oliveira. The KFH riding system 'Balanced Weight Riding' starts with thorough groundwork and lunging at liberty, building up the potential for the exercises of the High School Dressage (Haute Ecole), like shoulder-in, Spanish walk, passage, piaffe, half-pass, flying change, which all origin in the horses' natural movements and may be performed at completely loose reins (bareback riding, rein-less and bridle-less riding), in contrast to the main procedure in English dressage (represented by names like Helgstrand and Grunsven), and the conventional classical dressage (represented at Cadre Noir, the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, Escola Portuguesa de Arte Equestre and the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art). Genetic changing in breeding, horse characters and horse types are also important topics in KFH's repertoire, which Hempfling employs with all horses (What Horses Reveal). You will often find him with horses of baroque breeds like Lusitano horses (Alter Real), Pura Raza Española horses (PRE), Lipizzan horses, Knabstrup and Friesian horses but he is also very attached to the natural horse types like Arabian, Criollo, Welsh, Welsh Cob, Haflinger, Icelandic and Connemara. One may say that he is meanwhile one of the leading names in the issue animal and especially horse welfare and horse passion and love, as well as horses in wildlife, roots in nature and animal communication. The German TV programme called him one of the most important horse whisperer of the world. His stallion training enables a very controlled natural mating of mares with Breeding Horses. He also often works with young green horses, colt as well as filly, and his gentle and natural preparation for further training and riding makes very happy horses.

I see on early videos: how is unique a freedom of body of Klaus, these plastic and aesthetic have only folklore's dancers (gypsies). This freedom - from dialogue with a horse, nature and music ( at gypsies - too).
Modern dance separated from nature - has lost a GRACE of animals and plants. Rough sport works out the sharp and very strained body. There is a natural logic of movements of our body, we should not deform it ; in each of us lives an animal - we need to discover its beauty.

I take great comfort in realizing I am the master of my own soul. Like so many horses, my soul had nearly left my body to escape it's physical reality. For me, Klaus Hempfling's teachings (and my dedication to learning) have alowed my soul to begin to feel comfortable in this body. My relationship with my mare has been a clear, parallel journey to my soul's relationship to my body. I am learning to be the person I am deep inside. Thank you Klaus, and I thank those who support you.

Klaus - on a different note - I love the way your sheep are following you!! - also re the comment from leapfar about having shoes on the horses, Klaus has a good explanation for why he recommends this.

It's True - So True - But NOT because you said so ... That understanding of leadership, integrity, authenticity, and knowing your soul - comes FROM working with horses. It cannot be learned from words - or any other teacher (including Klaus). The learning comes from the experience - with the horse - in the language of the horse - no words ... no TALK of soul, etc.
Get it REAL - not right.

Do souls not seek one another? If I lived in complete isolation, would it be possible to have any comprehension of what my soul is?

@MothersEarth 3/3 We only need to be there , make offers and wait. Therefore I also say, you are the master of your soul and the horseman merely acts as reaction on the horse. Not I seek the horse, the horse seeks me. Not the soul seek the human being, the human being seeks the soul. To find it, always to keep it, is the task and sense of life.” KFH

Whereas I find many aspects of Mr. Hempfling's work inspirational, I wonder if this way of suggesting that a leadership-based relationship was the one and only way adds anything to his achievements?
If he finds that this focus on leadership works for him, that's great! But still I believe that excluding all other options makes things more simple than they are. I know way too many great relationships between horse and human where leadership does not play a central role.
But thanks anyhow!

@RomyTitum Thank you for sharing your thoughts - we think this is what you mean: in this clip Klaus describes leadership as self-development and as an act of serving; of course also towards the horses. As Klaus says: "We must go down to the very foundation of life."
Thanks N2P
