Is this song "Cotten Eyed Joe." Can the 'Cotten Eyed Joe" dance be danced to different tunes?

I am SO relieved to find the original version of this song being played in Europe. This is the one I have heard and danced to all my life. I absolutely hate that euro-pop disco version. Fortunately, they never play that disco version here in Texas.

The disco version would never cross the border into Texas! The person bringing it would probably be strung up! This is the popular version and probably the best known.

I've heard it once or twice here, I think they did it at PR's in Fort Worth. But nowhere else I believe.

No its not, this song has been around since the begining of bluegrass. Bill monroe and his bluegrass boys did it way before this version came out.
