There are 3 guitar tracks here. The main part (intro, most chords and arpeggios) on a Telecaster, a second rhythm part also on a Telecaster, and a third part on a Rickenbacker 360. I tried to show all of the parts as well as most of the bass line. I posted a video a few years ago of just the bass line.
Technical stuff: All guitars in standard tuning with a capo on the 2nd fret. The main guitar part is played on a standard Telecaster (MIM) through a janglebox compressor, a Boss CE-2 chorus pedal, and a MXR Carbon Copy analog delay into a VOX AC15C1. There's a good bit of compression and chorus with just a touch of delay. The bass was recorded directly into a GNX4 digital recorder.
If you want to learn how to play any of these parts check out www.smithsonguitar.com There's a wealth of Johnny Marr information on there as well as Smiths tabs and Guitar Pro files. The 10 track GP file on there for this song is by far the most accurate I have seen for the guitar and bass parts of this song.
I finally added it to the site!

Great cover, I'll add this one to the site this week. The CE-2 sounds great and the tele/Ric is an awesome combo!

Wow, that sounds great. I really like what that chorus pedal brings to it - maybe I'll have to get one. Also didn't know you got a Vox amp - I love mine. Maybe you told me already, but I could have forgot.
