  • Thank you for your comments. We are considering the possibility of making a video: Kanabo vs Kabuto (Samurai Helmet).

  • How much does a kanabo weigh? i think you said their are three sizes. How effective were they? i know they were not common weapons, was it because of their slow speed? also how do yo think a kanabo against a strong shield? sorry for all the questions, but its just hard to find info on this weapon.

  • @KrimzonKnight01

The weight of the kanabo depends on the countruction materials and pre-spec. The one uses in this video is 15 pounds.

  • @KrimzonKnight01 Kanabo weren't uncommon they were just used a lot before Katana were around.

  • Technicaly, a real hand forged katana would snap, they were razor sharp effective weapons how ever the lacking quality of the ore makes them fairly brittle. The katana being used in the demo was likely of a much higher quality allowing for the steel to bend instead of properly snapping, in theory you could throw that blade in a forge and straighten it right back out.

  • THAT MY FRIENDS DAD!!!! XD

  • There's no dicussing the strength of a kanabou, but this sort of "test" has no validity because you actually trashed a mogitou (imitation sword), which is the kind of crap you buy to decorate your living room or play make belief with other geeks at conventions. It's nowhere near as resistant as a shinken (real sword). Although it would be an interesting test to perform, no one with half a brain would actually destroy a shinken for the sakes of a minute long video on Youtube.

  • Clearly this was not a quality tempered blade. Try that with a Cheness 9260 spring steel blade and watch your Kanabo bounce back up and crack your head in two!

  • @daikagetora Haha well everyone has their secret tips and techniques, but it would be cool to see what else you do to make them in a video. :)

  • @MasterSemaj

That is an interested possibility. There are some things about the way I made a Kanabo that I will like to keep confidential, however I may be able to do something.

  • @daikagetora Interesting. It would be cool to see a video of you making one, like a work in progress type video.

  • @EvilDarkJackel

This video was made to show the capabilities of the kanabo. It may not see "fare" to a sword practitioner however demo & combat are two different things. The Kanabo techniques can stand vs a swordsman. If the wear of the kanabo knows what he is doing. This is not a samurai weapon. If you think about it, for a samurai, to be bested by a kanabo, is not an honorable thing. What was the reaction in the samurai comunity when Musashi bested Sakai with a piece of wood?
