Try and watch this as a full length theatrical "movie." King Murray won the Cannes Film Festival Critics Prize in 1970. It was my 1st feature documentary. Considered experimental because told the press that I had "staged" some of the scenes. My claim at the time was that all documentarians staged scenes nomatter what the filmmakers said. King Murray was selected as one of the 10 best of the year in the Wall Street Journal. Today it is only seen on college campuses by film students studying the history of the documentary. • Murray King is my dad. He is 88 years old and a very different person now since the death of my mom 2 years ago. You can view my dad, Murray King on my youtube channel. I love my dad but hated this movie since it portrayed him as a playboy. My mom was the love of his wife and they were married for 60 yes 60 years. Just my thoughts.

  • @esteesmom This was made a long time ago & was a complex story of a complex man who in the eyes of most people who saw it, was a creative and independent spirit. He spoke at college campuses after it was completed and found young people admired his energy. He was to my mind as one of the filmmakers, something of a hero who treated the filmmakers with respect. I wish you and your relatives well.

  • @allinaday Also. The movie does not show Murray has a playboy. In fact Murray makes the point several times in the movie that he is not a playboy and he treated the Las Vegas showgirls with respect. Some of his colleagues did not -- but that is what Murray's junket was all about. To get business from his colleagues. Not to participate in what they did while in LV.

  • This has to be one of the most spontaneous documentaries I've seen in quite a while. Letting the subject King Murry do most of the talking makes this film very authentic and not staged. The two sides of the story make it quite interesting. Whether you like this guy or not, he's not pulling punches when talking about himself. Although he is quite over bearing at times, his dicipline and diligent work ethic are Phenominal. Many work jobs they are not happy with for the money. Great job David
