The Hydrogen Fuel cell powered streamliner, the Buckeye Bullet 2 build by engineering students. Video captured on the Bonneville Salt Flats on September 23, 2009. The Buckeye Bullet 2 achieved a time that should qualify for a new FIA certified Last Speed Record for it's class, when certified. The students from the Ohio State University have worked for 4 years on this vehicle.
The First Run today:
Flying kilometer Speed: 298.898 mph (481.030 kph)
Flying Mile Speed: 298.776 mph (480.833 kph)
Exit Speed 303.574 mph (488.554 kph)
The team reloaded with hydrogen, oxygen, and ice and prepped the car for for a return run (which had to be made within an hour of the first run).(3:12pm):
Return Run Speeds:
Flying Kilometer Speed: 301 mph (484 kph)
Flying Mile Speed: 300.992 mph (484.400 kph)
Exit Speed: 304 mph (489 kph)
Two-mile average speeds are:
Mile: 299.900 mph (482.642 kph)
Kilometer: 300.992 mph (484.400 kph)
