Already there is a thing called robogaurd in Thailand it can shoot alone or wait for for orders. Honda have robots that can walk upstairs.

Skynet is supposed to have become self aware, but we dont even really know what makes us self aware so we cant emulate it in robots. Yes there also are planes and heli's which can attack my themselves. But only within what they are programmed to.
