We make use of a pair of sandals to collect walking and feet gestures through force sensors, and to provide instantaneous vibrotactile as well as auditory feedback respectively through haptic actuators underfoot and shoe-mounted small loudspeakers.
In this way, sensations of aggregate and deformable grounds such as snow, gravel, sand and mud, can be experienced by users walking over an homogeneous solid floor.
