UC San Diego- Chronicles of Racism 2010 Pt. 1

On February 19, many UCSD students gathered at 8am on Library Walk to protest. Chancellor Marye Anne Fox, who is FINALLY hearing us out, is the white lady in gray suit.

BACKGROUND CONTEXT:
We are protesting the continuous racism brought upon our small but united African American students, including the racist party held by Pi Kappa Alpha members in "honor" of Black History Month on February 15, 2010. Additionally, the UCSD Koala TV show on February 18,2010 at 10:00AM , mocked black students in regard to the Compton Cookout calling them "niggers" and mocking them for being upset. They even stated that black students should be grateful for being "honored" on Black History Month.

The fact that so many racist comments are spewing from this thread shows why more work needs to be done. First, references to "Asians" doing better academically needs to address what types of Asians and why certain Asians (Jap, Korean, Chinese) from rich countries (who benefited from U.S. foreign aid during the Cold WAr) do well not poorer ones. There is an under-representation of Southeast Asians in college. Know some history before you people speak.
