This is what it was like in the airplane on our way back home from California. We were 4 hours delayed!

To answer some of the most common questions:

First of all, this happened while we were on the ground, not while in the air.

The airline was US Airways, but the problems with the flight were not caused by them. US Airways is great and I enjoy flying with them.

We were at the Las Vegas airport waiting to fly to Phoenix. Thunderstorms in Phoenix had shut the airport down for an unknown length of time, so we were grounded in Las Vegas until they opened Phoenix.

In order to preserve fuel but allow everyone to stay on the plane (so we could get going as soon as word came from Phoenix) they shut all but one of the engines down. This caused the lights to flicker like you see in the video.

You can't see it in the video, but the small video screens above everyone's seats were also lowering and raising over and over at intermittent times, most likely caused by the same power problem as the flickering lights.

We were grounded for about 3-4 hours in Las Vegas before we were cleared to fly to Phoenix.

  • Electrical problems or disco plane

  • HAHAHHHAHAAAHAHAAHAHH

  • Lol wow electrical problems

  • @Fekillix Yes

  • So basically, the terror of having the captain come on the radio and say we have lost engines is intensified by scary as shit light sequences right before you die... great

  • This is like a cheesy Hollywood movie recreation of "electrical problems". Reminds me of Star Trek.

  • @toufiq121 Did I say "Cleared to fly"?

  • HELLO, and welcome to the cash cab... xD

  • @Fekillix So when you say being 'cleared to fly,' do you mean cleared as in fully inspected and the 'Go' to takeoff?

  • @toufiq121 Read description?
