Sunfish Sailboat Fiberglass Hull Repair

This is a video of a repair I made to one of my early 1970's sunfish that had a split in the hull underneath the cockpit.

For me this was a first time fiberglass repair.

Much of the technique was garnered from youtube videos by individuals and product manufacturers, without whom this fix would have been much more trying.

I offer my experience to add to the body of material out there.

Scotty - it s a judgement call based on size and location - what i learned about fiberglass and epoxy is that its damn strong even in small doses. you may very well be successful fixing it the way you suggest as long as you overlap onto the adjacent edge enough.

Great job here, Doug! I just put a gash in the bottom of my sunfish, and this is exactly what I needed to see! Must I get the materials at a marine shop, or can I find these sorts of materials elsewhere? ... Jim

if i just have a small crack running laterally along the underside do i need to cut it out or can i just sand and paste a patch over it?
