Took a dusty ride up Arrowhead Mt. Ski Area in Claremont, NH. It's a moderate ride with some off cambers, roots, rocks, and steep areas. It usually has several water/mudholes that can get pretty deep but because of a severe drought they've dried up. Arrowhead is one of many local ski areas in New England that isn't used for skiing any longer.

  • Dude i go up this mountain all the time on my 250 honda...it takes me like 3 minutes to get to the top. Climbing this mountain is always the highlight of our atv trips. What happend to the trail going from the railroad bed next to that dirt road leading all the way around that loop to claremont. It is all closed off now. Is it thoes jerk dirtbikes ripping it up?

  • @crickettsdodge31 Not sure which trail you are asking about. Is it the trail behind Burger King that stops at Veteran's Road? If so, it was closed by the landowner for various reasons. Arrowhead used to be connected by a loop that went over to Mosquito Schoolhouse Rd. There was a part of that trail that the Sugar River washed away 3-4 years ago. If you're talking about up top after you get off Mosquito Schoolhouse and go right there were loggers up there that finished a couple months ago.

  • @crickettsdodge31 I go slow and easy unless it's fairly smooth. I have a bad disc in my back and if I go on this kind of trail quickly I will regret it.

  • @andrewbrown763 Yep, it can catch you by surprise if you're not watching.

  • I am hoping to get my sad ass friends off there ass this summer to get to the trails up north this summer. cant wait.

  • I stand corrected. I was basing my comments strictly on observations alone where there wasn't any cable on the chairlift poles that I could see. I also didn't mean to imply that it is used for ATVs only. I've talked to many mountain bike riders and have even traveled from Massachusetts to help clean up the Railtrail with students from the local schools. Recently, I was asked to clean away some trees that had fallen across the ATV trails on Arrowhead and was able to do so.

  • Not sure what your basing your information off of you must not be from around here. Arrow head is owned by the city of Claremont,NH and it is used for sking in the winter time. The lifts are open and the lodge is open for ski/boots/poles/ and snow board rentals and service in the winter time. It is also used for hiking and picnicing in the summer and fall months as well as mountin biking. The trails on the top and around it are not just for ATV use. Please recheck your facts!
