Jinna Sahib Speech at Prisoners release protest Part 1

Chennai Sep 5: Popular Front of India organizes a mass protest requesting Tamilnadu Government to release all prisoners who were punished for more than 7 years in jail on Anna Birth Day, including muslims without any discrimination
The protest demonstration held at Chennai Memorial Hall at 11 am today on September 5, 2010 .

Popular Front of India's Tamilnadu State President M.Mohamed Ali Jinna presided the protests, M.Nijam Mohideen welcomed the mass gathering.

President Jinna in his presidential Speech mentioned that,

Like everyone concerned on human rights Popular Front also welcomes DMK government's practice of releasing life term prisoners and offering them amnesty, as a part of Anna Birth day celebrations.

Releasing prisoners on humanitarian grounds is common, practiced in neighbouring states like Karnataka and Kerala.

In Kerala prisoners who served for more than 7 years were released and in Karnataka 8 years for men and 4 years for women .

Though law defines "life term" as the whole life of a man till his death, it also had given provisions for amnesty to release prisoners on humanitarian grounds.

So on the basis of humanitarian grounds endorsed by the law of the land Popular Front of India requests the Government to release prisoners without discrimination.
