Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0

This is a first look at the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0. It's a portable Android device with a 5 inch, 800 x 480 pixel display and built-in GPS.

The Galaxy Player 5.0 is sort of like an Android phone that doesn't make phone calls... or a larger, Android-powered iPod touch.

I get confusing information from samsung cust service about the GPS on SGP 5.0. Does the gps work san wifi? This is the singular most important information for me,i tried it and it dd not work. Two diffrent Samsung agents said yes and no, so maybe i,m doing it wrong. Now you are a genius, so does the gps on the samsung galaxy 5.0 work? Thx

@omokhowa GPS works without WiFi -- but you need an internet connection if you want to use Google Maps to load maps or view direction since there's no 3G on the Galaxy Player.

Alternately you might be able to purchase an offline GPS app that stores maps on your device and calculates directions for you -- but I haven't really tested any on this device.

are you going to make a video which goes more in depth about how to add multimedia to the device. is there expandable memory? if so can you just put the music on the sd card and then listen to it?

You can also use google maps labs to download all the maps you need before you leave on your trip :) That way you won't have to use internet while on your trip.

@guitarplayeryzz Are you trying to start a war lol? The screen isn't as sharp as retina, but it is HUGE and bright, if you hold it more than 4 inches away from your face you wont even notice the pixels, and there is 90% chance it will work with mac hardware

When I try to connect to my home internet it tells me "Disabled, secured with WEP." Any help with what this means and how I can get my device online.

okay first of all what do you personally like more (and everybody else is welcomed to answer this question too), the ipod touch 4g or the samsung galaxy player 5.0? does the screen really look that sharp compared to the ipod touch? anyways, my really important question i originally wanted to ask was if YOU CAN CONNECT IT TO AN APPLE MAC AND TO ITUNES OR SOMEHOW PUT THE MUSIC FROM ITUNES ONTO THE SAMSUNG GALAXY PLAYER 5.0 ?!?!?! thank you :) please answer, i must decide what i'm gonna buy!
